Stranger Things is a Netflix original series that has been active since 2016. It has currently just finished its second season. The series is rated 15 and is in the Drama, Fantasy and Horror, Scifi and Thriller genres. The directors/creators of Stranger Things are the Duffer brothers: Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. The series  has a 9.0/10 IMDb rating and according to IMDb it is about "When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back".

The cast for the series includes many very talented child actors including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp. The other members of the cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery. The entire ensemble won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Both Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the character Eleven, and David Harbour, who plays the police officer Hopper, have been nominated for the most awards among the cast for supporting roles. The young cast are now sensations and have landed many other incredible roles in films such as 'IT' and music videos for artists such as Sia and Birdy.

The series won many Emmy awards including casting, sound editing, title design and title theme music. It has also had many, many nominations for Golden Globes, Emmy's, BAFTAs etc.

The series was made in the USA for the popular online streaming service Netflix. The release date for season one was 15th July 2016 and the release date for season two was 27th October 2017. The sound mix was produced by Dolby Digital. It was mostly filmed in Georgia and Atlanta USA but is set in a town called Hawkins, Indiana. Production companies included 21 laps entertainment and Monkey Massacre.

The audience for Stranger Things is mostly among the teenage audience and the show has a very large fandom and is a huge pop culture phenomenon.

Within the shows first 35 days on the streaming service, the supernatural drama averaged 14.7 million adults aged 18-49. There have only ever been two other Netflix series to get more views within 35 days: 'Orange Is The New Black' and 'Fuller'. The shows budget was roughly between $5-8 million.
