Stranger Things and its movie world references

One of the most obvious reference in Stranger Things has to be the movie poster itself. It has a very similar poster set up to the ones for all the star wars movies; the red and blue in the background which in Star Wars is represented to show the good side and the dark side. Also the different characters and their sizes on the poster is similar in both, so in the Star Wars poster we see Luke Skywalker in the centre and in the Stranger Things poster we see Eleven who is the supernatural girl with incredible powers in the show, just like how Luke is an exceptional talented and string Jedi in Star Wars and they both save the day in the end and use their powers to fight against the forces of evil. The set up of the other characters is also similar as they are all looking different ways and are surrounding Eleven showing the dramatics of the show. Then even the positioning of the title is practically the same in both. The Duffer brothers, who created the show, included many 80's movie references as the series is set in the 80's. In the poster we also see three boys Mike, Dustin and Lucas who are all riding bikes which has links to the iconic bikes in films like E.T. We also see Eleven holding a position where she has her head tilted down and her hand reached out which is an iconic position from Star Wars as well.

Here are some shots from Stranger Things which are very similar to shots or characters from other 80's films:
