Over the holidays I finally finished one of my favourite long form television drama - Sherlock. It is a British Television Series produced by the BBC based on the classic Sherlock Holmes detective story but in a modern setting. The series has four seasons each with only three episodes of an hour and a half within them. The series always includes many twists and clever plots and gripping cliffhangers that keep it so hard to resist watching.

The cast of the series includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson with Una Stubbs, Rupert Graves, Louise Brealey, Mark Gatiss, Andrew Scott and Amanda Abbington as supporting roles. The series was created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat and was directed by a collection of directors including Paul McGuigan, Nick Hurran, Coky Giedroyc, Euros Lyn, Toby Haynes, Jeremy Lovering, Colm McCarthy, Douglas Mackinnon, Benjamin Caron and Rachel Talalay.

The series has won many awards over the seven years it has been running. It has been nominated for many Emmys but has won Outstanding Television Movie, Outstanding Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Benedict Cumberbatch), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie (Martin Freeman), Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries, Outstanding Music Composition for a Miniseries, Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Miniseries and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries. It has also won and been nominated for BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild Awards as well as many more.
